Programming a garage door remote can seem daunting, but with the right steps, it’s a straightforward process. Whether you’re setting up a new remote, resetting an old one, or even using your smartphone, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know.

HOW TO PROGRAM A GARAGE DOOR REMOTE CONTROL

This works for setting up a new Garage Door Opener Remote or resetting your Garage Door Opener for Bulldog Roller Doors June 2022 onwards.

1. Find the Learn button
   This will be inside the control panel fixed on your wall. The learn button is often behind a light cover and on the circuit board, or near the antenna wire.
2. Activate Learning Mode
   Press and release the “Learn” button. The LED light next to it will start blinking, indicating that the opener system is ready to accept a new remote.
   
3. Program the Remote
   Within 30 seconds, press and hold the button on your remote control that you want to program. Release it once the LED light on the opener flashes or you hear a click.
4. Test the Remote
   Press the button on your remote to make sure it opens and closes the garage door. If it doesn’t work, repeat the steps. If it still doesn’t work, and the door was manufactured and installed by us, give us a call on: 0800 288 4040 and one of our friendly team members will guide you through the process over the phone.

CAN I PROGRAM MY PHONE TO OPEN MY GARAGE DOOR?

Yes, you can program your phone to open your garage door using a smart garage door opener system. You will need to get a Smart Garage Door opener system installed, we offer Smart Garage Door systems that are compatible with all of our Garage Doors.

Here’s how to program your phone to open your Garage Door:

1. Install a Smart Garage Door Opener
   You will want to make sure the system you choose is compatible with your Garage Door. As stated above, if your Garage Door was manufactured and installed by us, then our Smart Garage Door system is guaranteed to be compatible with your Garage Door.
2. Download the App
   The App is called Remotioo, and can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play
3. Connect to Wi-Fi
   Follow the app instructions to connect the garage door opener to your home Wi-Fi network.
4. Sync Your Phone
   Follow the onscreen instructions to sync your phone with the Garage Door Opener.
5. Test it works
   Test opening and closing your Garage Door using the Smart Phone app. If you have any difficulty, and the Garage Door was manufactured and installed by us, give us a call on 0800 288 4040 and one of our team members will guide you through the process.

ADDITIONAL TIPS & TROUBLESHOOTING

If you experience trouble setting up, programming or resetting your Garage Door Opener, follow these steps:

1. Check the batteries
   You want to be sure the batteries have power and are properly installed in your remote control. Our garage door remotes take 1x CR2032, small flat batteries that are available at any supermarket. 
   
2. Power Outages
   All Electric Roller Garage Doors and Electric Sectional Garage Doors manufactured by Bulldog Garage Doors have a manual override in case of power cuts, so your door will still operate to open and close even without power (you’ll have to open it manually). Sometimes after a power cut or outage, your Garage Door opener may need to be reset.
